The Real Oberheim Experience
Joe Zawinul, Styx, Rush, and Jean-Michel Jarre built signature tones on SEM-based Oberheims, and the module became one of the most revered synth voices of all time.
While working with GForce on OB-E® v2, Tom Oberheim and Marcus Ryle, an inspirational Oberheim engineer in the 80s, said no software emulation had ever captured the sound and the ethos of the original monophonic SEM. Under their close guidance, we changed that.
The Authentic SEM Sound
Two VCOs with Pulse and Sawtooth waveforms, two ADS envelopes, one LFO and the magical, legendary Multi-Mode Filter. Every section has been painstakingly emulated, right down to the analog inaccuracies of the original, blurring the line between analog character and digital precision.
Front Panel, Rear Panel
The front is the original SEM: two oscillators, the multimode filter, two envelopes and modulation, with direct access to FX levels and the arpeggiator. Flip to the rear for a new VCO3 that doubles as an audio rate LFO for FM, tempo synced LFOs with multiple wave shapes, and full velocity and aftertouch control.
Arpeggiate, Sequence, Play.
A fun, fast arpeggiator with a step sequencer that extends it into intuitive sequences. Warm basses, soaring leads and sweeping arps in an instant, so you spend less time shaping and more time making music.
A Full Effects Section
A stereo Delay to set your SEM in motion and a lush Reverb to make any sound shine. Lock the FX so they stay put while you browse patches.
YOU LEGENDS! The Arpeggiator is lovely, and the FX and Filter are sublime. I love the simplicity of it. So so simple. Was hoping to do a Bass Synth and was gonna go Minimoog… not sure now… The SEM has a punch to it.
