THIS IS A TALE OF THE RELENTLESS PURSUIT OF MUSICAL PASSION

Founded in 2003 by music industry veterans Dave Spiers and Chris Macleod, GForce Software was born from a shared passion for music, technology and synthesisers – and a desire to capture the character of remarkable instruments in software.

The journey began with the M-Tron, inspired by the legendary Mellotron® tape playback instrument. Its unmistakable sound quickly found its way into studios and onto stages around the world, including with Radiohead, who took M-Tron Pro on tour.

Working with the talented team at Ohm Force, GForce created instruments including Oddity and Minimonsta, followed by impOSCar, developed with Jon Hodgson. The impOSCar filters became so highly regarded that Spectrasonics licensed them for use in Stylus RMX and Omnisphere.

Since then, GForce instruments have found their way into the music of countless artists and producers around the world, including Radiohead, Ultravox, Ty Unwin, Sandunes, Orbital, Skudge, The Album Leaf, Underworld, Joachim Garraud and many more.

A NEW CHAPTER

In 2022, a new chapter for GForce began.

Driven by a shared obsession, a growing team of musicians, synthesists, designers, and software developers joined Dave and Chris in pursuit of a common goal: creating exceptional instruments that capture the character of the originals while embracing the possibilities of modern software.

It started with OB-E, our take on the legendary Oberheim® 8-Voice, and grew into an official partnership with Oberheim, resulting in instruments including SEM, OB-X, OB-1, TVS Pro and DMX.

That same approach has led to an official collaboration with Sequential, creating the first-ever officially endorsed software version of the Prophet-5, and with Novation, bringing the official Bass Station to software.

Alongside these new instruments, the GForce catalogue has been rebuilt from the ground up, with new generations of Minimonsta, Oddity, impOSCar, VSM and M-Tron Pro.

More than twenty years after it began, GForce remains a collective of people passionate about synthesisers, sound and technology, building instruments for people who love them as much as we do.
