Astounding, angry, almighty. In 1978, Tom Oberheim built the world’s first programmable monophonic synth, and somehow the OB-1 stayed a hidden gem for decades.
Developed in collaboration with Oberheim®, the GForce Oberheim® OB-1 brings it to the fore, now with sixteen voices.
Drag the fully scalable interface to any size.
More than 300 production ready presets from Zardonic, Alex Jann, Jogging House, Lightbath, Polydata, Jordan Passmore, Dave Spiers and more, from edgy and modern to passionately classic.
Programmable velocity responses, Poly Aftertouch, Hold and four programmable Macros put the whole synth under your fingers.
The OB-1 brought preset memory to analogue synthesis for the first time, letting players store and recall their own sounds while every rival still relied on patch sheets. Overshadowed by louder names, it became the connoisseur’s Oberheim. Developed in collaboration with Oberheim and modelled against GForce’s own hardware OB-1, this is the authentic instrument: the VCOs, the mixer with sub and noise, the unique 2 pole or 4 pole filter with screeching resonance, and the original envelopes.
A sound as full and robust as the legendary Minimoog® yet as aggressive and snarling as the MS-20®. Deep bass lines, soaring leads or something a little extra special, with a rich, raw character that techno, electro and underground producers will recognise on contact.
A new waveform with waveshape modulation, hard sync and cross mod, discrete oscillator, sub and noise levels with noise colour, LFO sync and retrigger, envelope looping, discrete key tracking, a high pass filter with keyboard tracking, pan spread and a Vintage mode. Every addition serves the original tone.
The hardware was mono. This one runs Mono Unison, Legato and Poly up to 16 voices, with Note Pan modes for width and Hold for hands free drones.
X-LFO and X-ADSR are pre wired to almost every parameter. Click a control, apply an amount, and watch the knob glow red as the modulation deepens. Hugely complex, yet musical.
A 16 step sequencer with independent step length for pitch, velocity and Macro4, probability, scale mode, random mode and play modes, plus a straightforward arpeggiator. Macro4 has its own sequencer track, which gets very creative.
An authentic Chorus, a Stereo Delay and a Matrix Reverb, each switchable from its own LED and lockable so your space stays put while you browse patches.

Programmable Velocity Responses and Poly Aftertouch
At its core, the GForce Oberheim OB-1 is the 1978 hidden gem: Tom Oberheim’s first programmable mono synth, recreated in collaboration with Oberheim, with the raw, rich tone intact.
Around that core is a modern instrument. Sixteen-voice polyphony and unison, X-Modifiers, a high-pass filter, waveshaping and cross-mod, four Macros, a sequencer and arpeggiator, three effects, a powerful Preset Browser and over 300 patches. Not a nostalgic homage, but an essential hustler for any studio.
