Okay so it's only just May, but we've had a couple of things in that we can't keep to ourselves, so here's the Early May news.
Firstly, The Sound on Sound VSM review is in and concludes with "If you like vintage string machines you'll be in seventh heaven with VSM. Period."
On the subject of VSM, it transpires that Radiohead are using it on their forthcoming tour, along with a beta version of M-Tron Pro - How reckless is that? Sending a beta version of our forthcoming instrument out on the road with one of the biggest bands in the world!!
We also had a couple of quotes fresh in from users including Paul Hartnol, the man behind the music for this excellent
VW ad, Steve Cobby (Fila Brazillia & The Cutler), Mark Kelly from Marillion and someone called Paul Evans who after purchasing VSM emailed us simply saying "This is THE BOLLOX!!!"
Finally, all of us at GForce send our best to fellow podcaster PJ Tracy who tied the knot on May 2nd

We love hearing where and when GForce instruments are used and recent chats with a couple of friends revealed that The Oddity was the synth used throughout The Stereophonics' mega hit 'Dakota'. When you listen, it's blindingly obvious and we can't think how we missed that one!
The new Goldfrapp single mix of 'Happiness' featured extra use of the Oddity. Finally, producer Sandy Vee told us "I just produced a big hit called 'Dollaly' which is the original single of the movie 'Asterix at the Olympic games' and the bass is impOSCar!"

..sends their good vibes and congratulations to Art & Jenn for their new arrival, Friday.
Welcome to the world.

We're continuing to beaver away on both the M-Tron Pro and the VSM Expansion Pack. The latter featuring sounds from the instrument that Stevie Wonder named the "Dream Machine" the mighty GX-1.
There's many more coveted sounds too, including (by popular request) the legendary Vox Humana sound.
More on both these projects soon, but as a taster, the following chilled-out track was part of a live jam session that used new VSM sounds, M-Tron Pro sounds plus the occasional impOSCar & Minimonsta patch - with some accompanying video of an M-Tron remastering session at Abbey Road.

We're back from Winter NAMM '08 where we showed the forthcoming new baby to an enthusiastic crowd.
We'll have more details on this soon but in the meanwhile, while we can say there will be an upgrade path from the original, we haven't finalised anything right now.
If you're wondering what the forthcoming baby will be, click

On the subject of NAMM, our somewhat tricky post-NAMM competition is now closed and we have a winner. All will be revealed soon but in the meanwhile thanks to all those that entered.
VSM Features, Reviews & Awards
Tuesday, 27th November, 2007
The first VSM UK magazine review we're aware of has just landed on our desks with Computer Music Feb 08 Issue bestowing a 9/10 score and applying a Performance Award.
The verdict states "VSM sounds fantastic, and does nothing less that what its name implies. However, it does go that bit further than being simply a strict emulation, thanks to its dual layers."
German VSM reviews have also started with
Amazona and also
Musotalk.
There's also a detailed video feature of VSM at
Sonicstate in English.
There's also a small VSM review plus an interview with Dave up at
Audionewsroom in both English and Italian.
Audio News Room also gave VSM a SONIC JOY AWARD and, let's face it, anything with the word 'joy' in it can't be bad.

VSM feedback is coming in thick and fast and it seems we've even been forgiven for our lateness with one kind person emailing us to say "This synth was well worth the wait. I've always wanted these sounds and actually borrowed ARPs and Opus 3's, so I knew the original sounds. The layout is perfect and very user friendly. Thanks!"
When creating VSM we really wanted to capture some of the magic that the M-Tron has so the following email means a huge amount to us.
"OMG - I just installed VSM and it is like entering another world (like I felt when I first played M-Tron). I can't get over the attention to detail - it sounds incredible, the interface is really perfect and fun to use, and it feels rock solid stable so far. The looping is wonderful - feels like a cross between samples and modeled sounds - god this must have been a crazy amount of work. I can't stop playing the OB Quiet patch!"

...remember, the fifth of November" quotes the ancient British rhyme of the 1605 Gunpowder Plot.
Its probably meaningless to non-Brits but this was when Guido Fawkes tried, and failed, to blow up the Houses Of Parliament with several barrels of gunpowder. He was subsequently hung, drawn and quartered for treason and for some reason this is celebrated every year with bonfires and fireworks across the country.
We set off a couple of fireworks in celebration that the VSM finally started shipping on the 5th although we do accept that we failed to get this site live on same date. Fortunately though the penalty for our failure wasn't quite as severe as for Guido and his gang.
So welcome to both the VSM web release and our brand new site. We'll be tweaking the latter over the next few days so please try and bear with us if some things aren't running perfectly just yet. In the meanwhile though, have a rummage around and explore the various things that we've been working on quietly throughout the last few months. Enjoy.
