Band touring season is upon us and across the globe GForce Instruments are being incorporated into various live systems for a summer on the road.
U2, Kasabian and Bruce Springsteen are using the M-Tron Pro. Underworld live shows starting on May 1st will feature VSM & and a special beta version of impOSCar 2. The long awaited Ultravox Reunion Tour features VSM, impOSCar, Oddity and Minimonsta, the latter used by both Billy Currie, Warren Cann and Chris Cross. Last but not least, Depeche Mode will be touring with impOSCar emanating from their six trusty Receptor units.
Granted, it's not strictly gig news, but we also heard that the forthcoming Dr Who, Planet O' Spiders episode makes use of a flute and clarinet combo sound from the Tron Pro. "Pure Radiophonics" was the quote from the sound designer Thursday, 22nd January, 2009We're back from NAMM where we previewed the glorious impOSCar 2 which caused quite a stir. Inevitably we returned to loads of emails asking for audio demos and a feature list so while we put our heads down and get it finished, here's some info to whet your appetite M-Tron Pro - Reviews & Awards
Thursday, 8th January, 2009We're celebrating here because the M-Tron Pro reviews are in and Future Music magazine have given it with a Platinum Award in line with all previous reviews of our previous instruments.
There's more awards too, with Computer Music bestowing a Performance Award, a score of 9/10, and a verdict of: "There's little to fault here, and much to get excited about, making this a worthy successor to M-Tron. Great work GForce!"
MusicTech magazine also loved the instrument bestowing a MusicTech Choice Award and commenting "M-Tron Pro is a virtual instrument that is packed with character and boasts the most comprehensive set of Melly tape banks we've ever seen. If you like your sounds dark, dirty and lo-fi, then the M-Tron Pro is a must."
Sound On Sound magazine summarizes their review with "The M-Tron graduates to long trousers with this highly enjoyable, easy to use 'Pro' version of G-Force's popular, well-loved Melly plug-in. Its dual-layer structure orders subtractive synthesis, effects, full MIDI control and a greatly expanded code library. Twice the fun!"
It's not quite up there with the quote from a user of "This instrument has more character than a politician has excuses" but we're happy, nonetheless.
Finally, the Audio News Room website has given the M-Tron Pro a Sonic Joy 2008 award, commenting "The M-Tron has been a must for any vintage sounds lover since it came out, years ago. Now with the M-Tron Pro they are taking the whole concept to a new level."Tuesday, 2nd December, 2008We've a new M-Tron Pro demo and we think it's something to shout about because, not only is it a fine example of what can be done with the instrument, it was composed by
David Hentschel.
David was responsible for engineering and producing many seminal albums from David Bowie, Queen, Genesis and countless others. He even engineered Elton John's Yellow Brick Road album and played the ARP on Funeral For A Friend.
We'll be talking in detail to David about his work soon but in the meanwhile check out his M-Tron Pro demo. Monday, 27th October, 2008
We're finally proud to unleash our new baby, the M-Tron Pro.
Offering a raft of new features & sounds, including over 700 patches, 3.5GB of samples, in excess of 40 looped tape banks, remastered tape banks and new sounds from a wide variety of tron sources, this massive update to the original Tron plug-In is designed to take those genuinely classic sounds into new territory.

Following hot on the heels of last month's Sound On Sound review is another in the June issue of Future Music.
In summary Future Music states, "VSM sounds wonderful and is a joy to use." Additionally they bestow VSM with two awards, 'Platinum' and 'Value'.
It's heartening to receive such high praise. But of equal importance Future Music have recognised that we've built an instrument that offers the best of yesteryear along with the flexibility to use those tones in a completely new way. "You can stick with a single sound or create generation spanning hybrid sounds." Nice!
Monday, 28th April, 2008A new Oscar is born.
Nope, it's not a synth. It's a real baby and our congratulations to go out to Greg and Aurélie.
Other May news is that the Sound on Sound VSM review is in and is a bit of a stonker, concluding with "If you like vintage string machines you'll be in seventh heaven with VSM. Period."
On the subject of VSM, it transpires that Radiohead are using it on their forthcoming tour, along with a beta version of M-Tron Pro - How reckless is that? Sending a beta version of our forthcoming instrument out on the road with one of the biggest bands in the world!!
We've also had a couple of quotes fresh in from users including Paul Hartnol, the man behind the music for this excellent VW ad, Steve Cobby (Fila Brazillia & The Cutler), Mark Kelly from Marillion and someone called Paul Evans who after purchasing VSM emailed us simply saying "This is THE BOLLOX!!!"
Finally, all of us at GForce send our best to fellow podcaster PJ Tracy who tied the knot on May 2nd
