impOSCar 2

After previewing impOSCar 2 at NAMM 2009 we've subsequently been inundated with questions and thought we'd put together this page with a view to helping answer some of these while we put our heads down once more and get on with the job of completing the instrument.

We'll add to this page when we can but in the meanwhile, here are some videos, FAQs and an impOSCar 2 new feature list to whet your appetite and answer some of your questions.

Poly Unison
Want fatness? The combination of the impOSCar filters combined with Poly Unison = fat and lushness personified.

Chord Memory
An exceptionally cool feature inspired by the OB8 and when used in conjunction with Poly Aftertouch this can produce some inspiring results.

Aux Mod
Together with the additional LFO the Aux Mod can drastically increase the impOSCar 2's sound sculpturing possibilities.



Ring Modulation
Once again a new feature on impOSCar 2 that can drastically increase the sound sculpturing possibilities on impOSCar 2.



External Audio
With the new FX version of impOSCar 2 we can now process things like drum loops. Be warned.....when we use this with unison modes towards the end of the video, you might want to turn your monitors down.

impOSCar 2 FAQs

Q. What Audio compression was used in the videos and did you use any external effects?
A. Audio was recorded at 44.1KHz and compressed using AAC. There are no external effects on any of the sounds.

Q. Is there an upgrade path from impOSCar to impOSCar 2 and how much will it be?
A. Yes there will be, but at the moment we don't know how much it will be. We'll let you know as soon as the instrument is finished.

Q. Can impOSCar 2 load patches from the original impOSCar?
A. Yes.

Q. Is impOSCar 2 re-skinnable?
A. No.

Q. Is the GUI really that huge?
A. There will be three versions, small, medium & large which you can chose depending on the size of your monitor.

Q. Can I suggest a feature to be added to impOSCar 2?
A. All audio features in this release are finalized. You're welcome to make suggestions of things you'd like to see, but we don't promise to implement them or have any idea when we will if we decide they're good suggestions.

Q. When will it be finished?
A. We're working as hard as we can but at the moment we have no firm date besides ASAP. Besides, after our intended VSM and M-Tron Pro release dates came and went, if we said "By Messe" no one would believe us anyway ;-)
