Synthesizer Books available from GForce
Keyfax 2 | Keyfax 4 | Peter Forrest's A to Z of Analogue Synthesizers | The Museum of Synthesizer TechnologyKeyfax
We have a limited amount of Keyfax 2 & Keyfax 4 books available. Published in 1986 and 1993, respectively, these buyers guides give an interesting insight into keyboards around at that time, As well as being a useful source of information when buying secondhand today. When every synth older then 10 years old seems to be deemed a ‘classic’ by sellers, these books can help you wade through much of the nonsense and get a clear picture of how they were perceived back in the day.Written by Julian Colbeck, GForce’s Dave Spiers & Chris Macleod did extensive amounts of research on the keyboards reviewed for this series of books. Indeed, Chris is rightly credited with “herculean amounts of tedious research” in the rare and much sought-after Keyfax 3 book, while Dave is credited as production Assistant on the Keyfax 4, 5 and Omnibus editions.

The Museum of Synthesizer Technology
In the early 90s, when we were considerably younger and working in a
converted attic with a music journalist, a gentleman by the name of
Martin Newcombe called to announce that he was opening a synth museum
and needed someone to invite, interview and film various people talking
about their favourite classic synths. This phone call was followed by a
fax listing the synths that had been curated and on or around the fifth
page Dave fainted. This was followed by a pre-opening visit where, once
again, Dave fainted.
This book lists and illustrates many of the instruments that were curated for the collection and is another essential book for all vintage synth aficionados.
The A-Z of Analogue Synthesizers
It's fair to say that Pete Forrest has probably forgotten more about
analogue synths than we know and the essential Analogue A-Z series
proves his attention to detail is almost beyond reproach.
Split alphabetically into two volumes (A-M & N-Z) never has there been such a comprehensive compendium of analogue instruments. A must-have for anyone even vaguely interested in vintage synths.
Note: Volume 1 (A-M) is currently sold out.
